Bishop’s statement on Coronavirus/COVID-19
We recognize the concern that coronavirus is causing, and we are grateful for the prayers of the righteous for those on the frontlines and directly affected by the virus.
As our presider of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, Bishop Theodore L. Brooks, Sr. has said, people are panicking, but God has not given us a spirit of fear. However, we are not taking this pandemic lightly. We will be precautious about what we do and how we do it.
Our decisions are met with fervent prayer for the Lord’s wisdom, guidance, and healing power, and we trust in God’s omnipotence over this situation.
As far as upcoming events are concerned, the city of D.C. has put in restrictions for events that exceed a certain amount of persons. At this time, this does not pertain to us, but we will continue to assess the situation. If there are changes, we will let you know by text and the church website.
In the meantime, please continue to trust God in the midst of uncertainty. First and foremost, seek and use wisdom regarding the personal health of yourself and loved ones.
If you’re traveling or going out, please take wipes with you. If you’re coughing, cough into a washable cloth or into your sleeve. If you’re sick or have a cold, please stay inside and consider seeing a doctor. Be prudent by washing your hands for a minimum of 20 seconds using soap/sanitizer and warm water. Avoid touching your face.
Also, continue to stay informed by guidance given by the federal authorities. Last, but not least, look out for each other and your neighbors, especially seniors who might be alone and/or vulnerable to the virus.
Sincerely,
Bishop Earnest L. Pendleton
